Freezer cold, fridge warm
Often a partial gas loss, a blocked capillary or a failed fan on frost-free fridges.
Frost on one part only
A patch of frost on the evaporator while the rest stays warm points to low gas.
Hissing or oily patches
A hiss near the back or oil marks on pipes show where gas is escaping.
Gas refilled before, warm again
The leak was never fixed. Refilling without sealing the leak only lasts weeks.
Compressor very hot
Low gas makes the compressor run non-stop and overheat. Fixing it early saves the compressor.
Before you call: listen at the back. If the compressor hums for hours and the fridge is still warm, switch it off and book a gas check. Running it empty for days can burn out the compressor.

How do I know my fridge needs gas?
The fridge runs non-stop but stays warm, the back pipes feel barely cold, and frost forms on only part of the evaporator. The technician confirms it with a pressure test before refilling.
Do you fix the leak or just refill the gas?
We always find and seal the leak first. Refilling a leaking fridge only works for a few weeks, so we fix it, fit a new filter drier, pull a vacuum and then charge the gas.
Which gas does my fridge use?
Most new fridges use R600a; older ones and many freezers use R134a. It is printed on the rating plate inside the fridge. We always use the gas your fridge was designed for.
How long does a gas refill take?
Usually two to three hours at your home, including leak repair, vacuum and testing until the fridge is cold.
How much is fridge gas refilling in Nairobi?
It depends on the gas type and where the leak is. Diagnosis is free and you get the full price before any work starts.
