Low gas
A small leak lets the gas out over months. The fridge runs all day but stays warm.
A warm fridge spoils food fast. Most cooling faults come down to six causes, and our technician carries the parts for the common ones so it is usually fixed on the first visit.
Tell us what it’s doing and we’ll usually know the likely cause before we arrive.

Dust on the coils at the back or underneath traps heat so the fridge cannot cool.
Frost-free fridges need a fan to push cold air from the freezer. A failed or iced-up fan leaves the fridge warm.
A worn thermostat or failed temperature sensor stops the compressor switching on at the right time.
The compressor clicks but will not start. A cheap part that saves the compressor.
Ice blocks the air channels when the defrost heater, timer or sensor fails.
Quick checks first: the thermostat dial hasn’t been turned down, there is a 10 cm gap behind the fridge, the coils are not thick with dust, and the door closes on a sheet of paper without letting it slide out.

Most often low gas from a slow leak, dirty condenser coils or a failed fan. On frost-free fridges a blocked air channel from a defrost fault is also common.
On frost-free fridges the cold air comes from the freezer through a fan and a small channel. A failed fan, ice in the channel or a defrost fault keeps the fridge warm.
Unplugging for 10 minutes can reset an electronic fridge, but if it is still warm after a few hours, book a check. Running a faulty fridge for days can damage the compressor.
